There are two new conference reports added to the website – Growing up in Rural Scotland by Mary Fawcett and Parental Substance Misuse by Angela McGroarty. Both can be found under “conferences” as can the SACP response to the Draft Consultation Bill – Getting it Right for Every Child.

February 15th 2007 (Website News):

New members added to about me section for the north of Scotland. More links added to the links section. Latest minutes from the SACP, as well as various "new" reports in the archieve.

January 29th 2007:

The Draft Children’s Services (Scotland) Bill consultation is now underway. The bill is intended to support the Getting it right for every child programme. It impacts on the Children’s Hearing System and views are sought on issues relating to this.

These include, among others, changes relating to:

- legal representation for children
- withholding information
- grounds for referral
- interim supervision requirements.

SACP council intend to respond to this consultation and would like to hear the views of as many panel members as possible. You can do this either through the Contact Us section of this website or by contacting your local SACP representative. (See About Us on this website or use local contact arrangements.)

Panel members have also raised the issues of (i) time off from work for hearings or training and (ii) how a panel member can access mediation / appeal if he/she is in dispute with CPAC.

The National School for children’s panel members. Takes place 3-5th November.

Meet SACP representatives at the National School.

There will be several SACP representatives of SACP at the National School. They will be manning an SACP stall as well as taking part in the activities of the school. They will be happy to answer questions about representation and also to hear about any issues relating to the Hearings system and panel membership. Look forward to seeing you in Dunblane!

October 24th 2006 (Website Update): In preparation of going "live", most things being checked to make sure they are working. All conference reports, annual report and minutes will now be in PDF format. Also, the minutes for 2006 so far have been added to the Minutes section.
